Simeon Alexandrov Chanachev

Born on May 8, 1957 in Sofia.

Graduation from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in 1980. Judge at Sofia City Court from 1982 to 1984.

Vice-president of Third Sofia Regional Court from 1984 to 1992. follwing the short term of office as judge at Sofia City Court, 1994 appointed as judge at the Supreme Court, and in 1997 at Supreme Court of Cassation.

Vice-president of the Supreme Court of Cassation since.

Doctor of law since 2001.

Completed training programs in Spain and Germany. Lecturer at the National Institute of Justice.

Author of many publications in the field of civil law.

Fluency in spoken and written Russian.

 

Grozdan Iliev

Born on September 1, in the town of Elin Pelin, Sofia Region.

Graduation from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in 1972.

Regional prosecutor at the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in the town of Elin Pelin and Deputy to the District Prosecutor at Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office from 1974 to 1983.

Judge at Sofia Military Court of Justice from 1983.

Elected Supreme Court Judge by the National Assembly in 1989.

Judge at the Supreme Court of Cassation since 1998. Promoted to Head of Division of the Supreme Court in 1993.

Elected Deputy to the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation and Chairperson of the Penal College by the Supreme Judicial Council as of April 29, 2009.

Co-author of the monograph “Jurisprudence of Military Courts of Justiceand author of many articles in the field of criminal law.

Fluency in spoken and written Russian.

Arbitrator, Deputy to the Arbitrator General and Arbitrator General at the City State Court of Arbitration as well as arbitrator at the Supreme State Court of Arbitration

Elected by the Grand National Assembly in 1990 as Supreme Court Judge.

Completed one-year specialization course in banking law in Washington, USA as holder of a Fulbright grant.

Professor of Civil and Commercial law since 2006.

Elected Deputy to the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation and Chairperson of the Commercial College by the Supreme Judicial Council as of April 29, 2009.

Author of 3 monographs, many articles and studies in the field of civil and commercial law.

Fluency in spoken and written English and Russian.
